Happy Sunday to you. I'm buzzing. It may be howling a gale but I'm as happy as a pig in mud. I've harvested my first single-stem cauliflowers, picked enough strawberries for tomorrow's breakfast, and was delighted with my crop swap haul including a white alpine strawberry plant, a peach tree seedling and a pack of @tuigardenandhome Black Beauty zucchini seeds that I'm about to plant out now. Yummo! 😆🌱

It might be relish season, but that doesn’t mean everything has to come fresh from the garden. Today I’m making my trusty Pear & Tomato Relish almost entirely from the freezer — frozen pears, frozen tomatoes, frozen capsicum and even frozen chilli. And here’s the beauty of relish: mushy doesn’t matter.

Move over lemon... it's time for grapefruit to shine. Today I’m turning pink grapefruit into a gloriously tart, sweet and fluffy Grapefruit Meringue Pie — homemade pastry and all.

Got a random collection of citrus hanging around? Turn the peel into a sweet and sour chewy treat! Today I’m using pink grapefruit and lemon peel, but orange, mandarin, lime (you name it) can all get the candied treatment. And if you’re juicing the fruit anyway, this is a delicious way to make sure those beautiful peels don’t go to waste.

This super-easy Almond Mandarin Slice is moist, dense, chocolatey and gloriously unfussy. Better still, it’s naturally gluten-free. Fresh mandarin purée works beautifully too, but those little frozen cupfuls I squirrelled away when mandarins were everywhere are now earning their keep.

Is it a jelly? Is it a marinade? It doesn't really matter! I love a recipe that isn’t really a recipe — it’s a method. And this citrus sweet-and-sour cooking sauce is exactly that: no perfect fruit, no exact citrus combination, and no weighing. Just use whatever citrus is hanging around. All you need to remember is 10:7 ratio!

I’ve reached that dangerous stage of gardening where I’m no longer just growing beans… I’m collecting them (basically I'm into Pokémon territory: gotta grow ’em all) 😂🫘

What bean varieties am I missing? … hit me with your favourites!

If there’s a variety you grow that deserves a spot in my increasingly unnecessary bean collection, tell me what it is — and why you love it. Bonus points if it’s prolific, delicious, unusual… or looks fabulous in a jar.

Drinking vinegar. I know. It doesn’t exactly scream “pour me a glass!” But bear with me, because this citrus shrub is basically cordial’s tangy, grown-up cousin. Mandarin, orange, sugar and apple cider vinegar — cold-pressed, kept in the fridge, then diluted with sparkling water, tonic… or perhaps something a little stronger. And the verdict? Bright, citrusy, zingy and surprisingly delicious. Cheers!
