Garden Maintenance

Gardening isn’t just about planting and harvesting. It’s the quiet work in between that really keeps everything growing.

I’ve come to realise that garden maintenance is where the magic (and the mess) happens. It’s weeding on a Sunday afternoon, or not. Mulching in the rain, fixing broken trellis, and figuring out what’s eating your broccoli.

When we first started, I underestimated how much time and care a garden really needs to thrive. But the more I leaned into the natural cycle of the seasons: feeding the soil, pruning at the right time, tidying one section at a time, or deciding that a wild ‘food jungle’ is more than okay, the more connected I felt to the whole process. Maintenance isn’t a chore. It’s part of the life of the garden.

This section is where I share the practical stuff: how we manage weeds naturally, mulching, composting tips, pruning basics, tool care, and the simple routines that make a big difference over time. It’s not about having a picture-perfect garden. It’s about keeping things ticking along, learning what your plants need, and staying one step ahead of nature as best you can.

If you’re trying to create a low-maintenance setup or just want help staying on top of the tasks, I hope you find some useful ideas here.
